From March 31st to April 14th, 2023, an exhibition of contemporary art will see the presence of international artists through different artistic disciplines: from painting to sculpture, from photography to digital painting, from installation to the performance.
Exhibition description:
According to Cicerone, the siren song in the Homeric writings is a promise of knowledge: Odysseus wasn’t attracted to the sweetness of their voices, but from the strong desire to acknowledge. These creatures, half women half animals, aren’t mysterious mythological figures, but a symbol of intellectual seduction: their singing is deadly like words and imagination, they are intermediates between human and supernatural world. This is how their hybrid nature can enchant the human mind. Only between the end of 7th century and the beginning the 8th A.D., in the transition between Pagan and Christian society, sirens are described as creatures with a woman torso and fish tail, a reference to the sea as a transition between human and supernatural.
